There's more than enough here to keep nitty gritty management fanatics excited. Hippos will need deeper ponds than other species so they can swim and bathe, and so on. Do you have a zoo in the desert? You'll need to build cooling pads beneath the floor of your timberwolves' den (not to mention power generators) to accommodate them as well as shelters for your lions to hide in during storms. Every animal has different needs you'll need to respond to in some fashion. You'll need to do more than feed your animals to take care of them. The Management Side Of The Game Is Strong Every species of animal reacts realistically to their real-world counterpart, with wolves following a pack mentality while other species might just go off and do their own thing. Frontier is working hard to make sure each individual animal stands out, with genomes affecting major things like behavior to small details such as coat patterns. The occupants of your zoo are more than just units you have to care for.
Frontier Developments showcased the it knows how to bring the park sim into the next generation by striking a fine balance between meticulous management and wacky shenanigans, and we look forward to seeing the result with Planet Zoo. If you haven't played Planet Coaster, but loved management sims like Rollercoaster Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon, you should give it a go. Here's why we're excited to play the game when it releases this Fall. We recently got to watch a 15 minute demo of the game in action and came away rather impressed by Frontier's ambitions and the promise of their take on running a zoo and caring for its animals. Scenario Zoos in Sandbox Mode will also have the new "Terrain Only" button which removes everything except the terrain, another variation for you to start out with! This is perfect for people who want to jump into a Scenario Zoo terrain, but still have the freedom to create their own zoo from scratch.Planet Zoo is an upcoming management sim by Frontier Developments, the company behind Planet Coaster. You will now also be able to use Scenario Zoo maps in Sandbox Mode! There are 9 timed scenarios and 14 regular scenarios, which means 23 new terrain maps and 30+ new terrain variants! Though, please note that scenario maps are not available in Franchise Mode. We won't spoil all of these so you can discover them yourselves, but one special one is the "Desert – Oceania" map, a flat desert with a mountain in the middle similar to Uluru! From here, you'll be able to select "Flat", which is your standard map area that you know and love, or "Sculpted", a range of new options, with one new sculpted option per biome type.
When you go through your standard set-up for starting a new zoo, you will now have a new option: Terrain Type.
For more in-depth information on how this will work, check out our forum post from last week! But wait, that's not all! We also have new Terrain Type options coming to give you even more variation in pre-made maps. These will allow you to really get creative with your map terrain via uploading image files.
you can read a snippet about it below and the full details here.
The pack also comes along with a free update as the 1.7 Patch is now in effect. You'll now be able to add in some ferocious beasts and other localized animals unique to that area of the world into your zoos, including the American Beaver, Moose, California Sea Lion, Cougar, American Alligator, Black-Tailed Prairie Dog, Arctic Fox, and American Bullfrog. Frontier Developments has added a brand new DLC expansion to Planet Zoo as players can now get the North America Animal Pack.
